Battle for the Ring
UNDER THE SUN!
December 20th
Outdoors at Arizona Christian University 59th Ave & Greenway, Glendale, AZ
The Third and Final MWP Battle for the ring on January 10th will be back at Desert Ridge
We’re thrilled for the second leg of the series — something totally new for MWP! On December 20th, we’ll be wrestling OUTSIDE at Arizona Christian University (59th Ave & Greenway, Phoenix).
We’re rolling out the mats onto their brand-new artificial turf for a full day of outdoor wrestling. With average temps in the high 60s and plenty of sunshine, conditions should be perfect. Think of it like MWP Under the Lights — except this time, it’s Under the Sun! ☀️
A brand-new experience your athletes will never forget.
It’s going to be fun, different, and unforgettable.
We have many athletes chasing the goal — to go undefeated in all three Battle for the Ring events to earn the Championship Ring and Singlet. It’s a tough achievement, and we can’t wait to see who rises to the challenge!
We also have many wrestlers in the running for All-Regional Honors.
📌 The top two point-winners in each weight class will receive a framed All-Regional Certificate.
📌 While you’re not required to attend all three tournaments, it definitely helps maximize your points.
📌 And please let your wrestling friends and family know: even if they can only make one event, they are absolutely welcome to join us.
📌 Important: To be eligible for All-Regional Awards, athletes must compete in the final event on January 10th.
Team pride is on the line too — the Top 3 teams from the series will take home a custom banner to hang proudly in their wrestling room.
Train hard… we’ll see you back on the mats soon!
NEW ROOKIE DIVISIONS = Two years or less experience. Yes, you can double-bracket the same age group in the open division. Please see weights and time tab for details Awards for rookie division are medals 1st – 4th.
The MWP “Battle for the Ring” Championship Tournament will consist of a total of 3 tournaments. We will be keeping track of points for every athlete in each weight class to determine who the top 4 wrestlers are at the end of the series.
We will be handing out medals for 1st – 4th place at each tournament.
HUGE 5-inch custom medals are handed out to the first & second place winners.
The ultimate awards for the entire series are the awesome custom championship ring and Championship Singlet. To win the ring and singlet, an athlete must take first in any weight class in all 3 tournaments. These are very prestigious awards that only a few will have.
Team awards: The first 3 teams with the greatest number of points at the end of the series will receive a beautiful custom banner. It is mandatory to wrestle in the last tournament on January 14th to win the custom banner. You can miss any of the first 2 tournaments. (Of course, it’s best to do all 3 to obtain the maximum number of points possible
Team and Individual points per tournament: First place (20 points), Second place (15 points), Third place (10 points), Fourth place (5 points)
MWP “All Regionals” Award : The top two athletes in every weight class with the greatest number of points will be recognized with a framed All-Regionals certificate. It is mandatory to wrestle in the last tournament on January 10th to win the framed All-Regionals certificate. You can miss any of the first 2 tournaments. (Of course, it’s best to do all 3 to obtain the maximum number of points possible)
